Understand the treatment

What a repair can and cannot do

A repair starts with a careful look at what the first procedure left: the hairline, the angle and density of the transplanted hair, and how much the donor area has already given.

A hairline that looks too straight or too low can often be softened with single-hair grafts placed with the DHI pen. Thin areas can be filled in, and dot-like scars in the donor area can be covered with new grafts.

The limit is always the donor area. A previous over-harvest means fewer grafts are left, and the plan is built around what can still be taken safely.

Sometimes the honest answer is that little more can be done safely. You get that answer in writing too, before you book anything.

Procedure day

What happens, step by step

A procedure usually takes 6–8 hours, depending on the number of grafts. You are awake, comfortable and can take breaks.

  1. Arrival day Arrival and welcome A private transfer brings you from the airport to your hotel. Your coordinator and translator meet you.
  2. Morning Consultation and design Final medical checks, then your hairline is drawn and agreed with you in front of the mirror.
  3. ≈ 15 min Local anaesthesia The donor and recipient areas are numbed. Most patients feel pressure rather than pain from here on.
  4. 2–3 h Graft extraction Grafts are taken one by one from the back and sides of your head with micro punches of 0.6 to 0.8 mm.
  5. 2–3 h Implantation Each graft is placed at the angle and direction of your natural hair, hairline first.
  6. Evening Rest and aftercare You leave with written aftercare and rest at your hotel. Your first wash is shown to you before you fly home.

Scene photos are illustrative.

After your transplant

Month by month: how your new hair grows

Hair grows in cycles, so results arrive gradually. Knowing the timeline in advance makes the waiting easier.

  1. Day 1 Grafts in place Small crusts form around the grafts. You sleep with your head raised on two or three pillows.
  2. First days Your first wash The team shows you how to wash with the prescribed products. You continue the same way at home.
  3. Days 7–10 Crusts lift away The treated area looks clean again. Most people return to normal routines.
  4. Weeks 2–8 Normal Shedding Most transplanted hairs fall out. The follicles stay in place and rest before they regrow. This is normal.
  5. Months 3–6 New growth Fine new hairs appear around month 3. Many people see a clear change by month 6.
  6. Months 12–18 Your result Most of the result is visible at 12 months. The final result is assessed at 12 to 18 months.

Risks, honestly

A hair transplant under local anaesthesia is a well-established procedure, but no medical procedure is free of risk. Possible effects include temporary swelling, numbness, itching and inflamed hair follicles, and rarely infection or lower graft survival. Smoking and some medicines reduce graft survival, so your plan tells you what to pause and when.

Good to know. We would rather decline a procedure than accept a patient whose donor area or health makes a good result unlikely. That protects you and us.

Aftercare in five lines

  • Sleep with your head raised on two or three pillows for the first nights.
  • Take the medicines exactly as prescribed by the doctors.
  • No swimming or strenuous exercise during the healing period.
  • No alcohol or smoking, and nothing that thins the blood.
  • Protect your head from direct sun with a loose cap.

Honest answers

Transplant repair: frequently asked questions

Still have a question? A patient coordinator answers on WhatsApp, in your language.

I had a transplant elsewhere. Can it be improved?

Often, yes. What is possible depends on the grafts your donor area can still safely give, which is exactly what the free plan looks at. You get an honest answer in writing.

How soon after my first transplant can I have a repair?

Hair needs 12 to 18 months to show the final result of a transplant. The doctors usually judge a repair once your first result is fully grown.

Which photos should I send?

Front, top, crown, the back of your head and both sides, in good daylight and with dry hair. Phone photos are fine.

Can a too-low or too-straight hairline be fixed?

Often it can be softened with single-hair grafts placed in front of and between the existing hair. Whether yours can is answered in your free plan.

Will my hair transplant look natural?

A natural result comes from design: an irregular hairline, single-hair grafts at the front and angles that follow the way your hair grows. Your hairline is drawn and agreed with you before anything begins.

How much does it cost?

Packages start from €3,400 for Sapphire FUE, €3,600 for DHI and €4,600 for 2× DHI (two sessions on two consecutive days). Every package includes the medical consultation, the procedure, a personal translator, a 5-star hotel with breakfast, private transfers, lunch at the clinic, PRP for the grafts free of charge (worth €600), a 12-month aftercare programme and flexible dates. Your exact price is confirmed in writing in your free plan. VIP Diamond is an optional upgrade on top of any package.

Is it safe to have a hair transplant in Turkey?

A hair transplant in Turkey is as safe as the clinic that performs it. Before you book, check who carries out each step, how your grafts are planned and what happens after you fly home. At BlueMagic Group Clinic in Istanbul you meet the medical team before anything begins, the procedure is done under local anaesthesia, and the 12-month aftercare programme with 6 follow-ups continues once you are home. No medical procedure is free of risk: your written plan explains the risks that apply to you.
